Cooling off up the Canyon

Well in my absence this last weekend, the family took a little stroll up Big Cottonwood Canyon and my Dad being the photog he is, took a bunch of photos.  Here are some of my favorites that I stole from his Flickr page.  For the whole rundown of the shots head here.

Weekend Warriors-SLC and back

A couple weeks ago we had a quick visit in Salt Lake for the weekend. As usual it was busy and good to see everyone we were able to. Thanks for Nick finally getting married, so I had an excuse to take work for a day. Anyways, one of the unplanned highlights was going up and waiting in line for a Christmas Tree Permit with my Dad. Some of you know this is somewhat of an annual tradition as you will see here and here. Unfortunately I won't be around to go chop one down, but hopefully we will be able to do it here in Washington seeing how there is no shortage for trees up here. Anyways, here are a couple pics from that morning.

Fast Times...

After we got back from a week vacation in Lake Powell, "Jenn asked me why is it that after a vacation, you feel like you need another one to recoup?" I, at the time was thinking the same thing. And I concluded, that she felt like that because she didn't sleep much cause of Ava up at night, and she had to get her to sleep so we didn't get kicked off the houseboat. I on the other hand was a little frazzled myself after destroying a brand new BBQ and engulfing it in flames on my night for dinner, catching some form of 'syphil-gonor-lake-rash' from what I believe was from a mud bath I had on the beach, and then giving myself a pretty good sized raspberry by going off the houseboat slide in what many would call un-orthodox fashion. I have never really never considered myself 'accident prone' but we all have our fair share of 'doozies' right? Of course, that's neither here nor there. The trip of course was awesome. Here are some photos, it was a huge blast and good times. And for the entire story board...you know where to go.

Here is Ava on the beach and with Mom.

"You can now turn on your approved electronic portable devices..."

After hearing that, I figured why not; doing the mobile blogpost always makes the flight go by quicker.

The start of this trip was last week, when Jenn and Ava headed to Vegas for work meetings and I had some work stuff in Portland. After my stuff was done, I ventured to Utah for a little Parkin family reunion at Bear Lake. I couldn't tell you the last time I was there, but between my cousin eating a live grasshopper and some great times wakeboarding, it was a blast.

Later, this past week Jenn and Ava came back to Utah and it was good seeing them for a couple days before I headed back to the big WA. Since I am hiking Mt. St. Helen's later this week, Jenn figuered she would visit her family and hit up her high school ten year reunion. So, that means I have to finally wrap all the dangling tasks on the house before they get back and I resume my post work Ava duties.

As usual I will be posting some pics on my Flickr, and more house pics as I complete some much needed landscaping. Also, stay tuned for the Mt. St. Helens adventure post next week.

Christmas Tree Tradition

I know I haven't posted anything in awhile, but now that Ava is sleeping in one arm, I'm able to type with the other.
Anyways, as I posted last year, and the year before we did it again. We went and chopped down the Christmas Tree. We actually went last week, and the Uintas really didn't have that much snow. It was still very cold and it was a lot of fun. I know the trees are nothing like the store bought, and even resemble a little bit like Charlie Brown's--it's okay. It is a great, fun tradition to have. As always head over to my Flickr for the whole set of pics.

I don't think I am ready for winter, but...

I am ready for ski season!

A week ago on Saturday Jenn and I went for a drive to see the leaves before they were all gone and check out the first signs of Snow before winter comes. It was really pretty and really cold, but we had a good time. As you can see in the pics Jenn is getting to ready to have our baby girl! I guess at this point our little could arrive anytime now! Pretty crazy. I wonder what she'll look like? I always wonder that and tell Jenn that I hope she looks like her. I just can't imagine a girl version of me....

Anyways here are a couple pics from last saturday. That is all for now!

St. George Marathon 2007--3:54:08

I have been so busy this week and in the process of recovery and since I don't have to wake up tomorrow morning and run for 2 hours, I figured tonight was as good as any to post some pics from the marathon last week.

I was really happy about my run. I had started with a 3:40 pace group and managed to stay with them for about 20 miles. For some reason, my legs got so tight and on the verge of cramping I was forced to slow it down. The last 5 miles I added some time but I was still happy that I had a personal best and came in at sub-4 hours. Speaking of good times...I got to give a shout out to my Mom who had a personal best as well and completed in 4:39!!!

Here are a couple pics, but head over to my Dad's Flickr stream for the entire set. Thanks again Dad and Robyn for making the trip and helping accommodate us in a great condo!

At the finish!
I don't know which pic I look better in.

I love my medal!

Many of you also know that the future of Cottonwood Mall has been anyone's guess. Well, not anymore! Yesterday we announced the plans for Cottonwood Mall and it was pretty awesome. Here is a link for the Cottonwood Mall website where you can see the renderings of what we plan to happen. http://www.mycottonwoodmall.com/. As I have more updates to share I will, but until then just know that it is pretty exciting stuff.

Backpacking

Trail Head, originally uploaded by Keltose.

This weekend my Dad, Brad and I went backpacking up Big Cottonwood Canyon. It was a short hike, but a lot of fun. It was some great weather. Check out my Flickr for more pics.
